Human Resource Policies Procedures

Why have Policies and Procedures in the workplace?

Surely the employees would have known better or it is common sense after all.

Are the Policies and Procedures at the workplace current and comply with all legislation?

All workplaces require Human Resource Policies and Procedures.

Policies and Procedures state very clearly the ethics, standards and appropriate steps to be followed by the employer and the employee.

Policies and Procedures within a workplace are wide ranging and include acceptable and unacceptable conduct, the application of non-discriminatory policies, zero tolerance of anti-bullying behaviour, a safe place of work, the taking of leave or car parking for example.

Policies and Procedures operate every day at the workplace.

It is essential to ensure your company has the appropriate Policies and Procedures in operation.

Furthermore, it is equally important for all employees including management to be aware and trained in respect of all Policies and Procedures.

Simply having Policies and Procedures written down or in some cases where they are not written because the employee was expected to know; is insufficient.  Employers will often fail to meet their legal requirements or in more serous situations unable to mount an acceptable defence in legal proceedings as either the company did not have a Policy, or the Policy or Procedure was not current, or had not been communicated or there had been insufficient training relevant to the Policy or Procedure.

It is recommended for all companies to examine their Policies and Procedures.

Craven and Associates prepare Employment Policies and Procedures Handbooks as well as individual Policies.
